Fiscardo

At the northern tip of the peninsula is Fiscardo a captivating seaside village. Many of the pastel-coloured quayside houses, some of them dating back from Venetian times, have been turned into picturesque tavernas, bars and shops.

Fiscardo was one of the few islands to survive the disastrous earthquake of 1953 and the original Venetian architecture remains intact. The picturesque fishing village resembles a horseshoe shaped bay filled with fishing caiques and yachts and is well known for its beautiful waterfront  tavernas/restauraunts and boutique style shops.

The restauraunts in Fiscardo are amongst the best in Kefalonia. Stretching from one end of the harbour to the other, they're predominantly grill house and seafood restauraunts. The most famous in Fiscardo (and in fact all of Kefalonia) is Tassia's restauraunt, run by Tassia of the Dendrinos family. The restauraunt has earned its formidable reputation over a number of years, and Tassia is also the author of a number of bestselling cooker books and is somewhat of a celebrity chef on Greek television. Being one of the oldest fishing villages in Kefalonia, it goes without saying that fresh fish is always on the menu.

Fiscardo certainly has a cosmopolitan feel about it, particularly at night when the lights along the promenade fill the harbour while both tourists and locals enjoy their evening stroll to one of the splendid restauraunts.

Fiscardo is ideally situated with some of the loveliest beaches in Kefalonia and all in easy access from your villa. All of the beaches are pebble, some with coarse sand along the water's edge. All along the east coast from Fiscardo down to Agia Efimia are beautiful little bays which are inaccessible by vehicle. The best way to discover these secluded beaches is to hire a boat for a day, take a picnic lunch and cruise along the channel. On a calm day (which is virtually every day) you can even make a day trip across the channel to neighbouring Ithaca, which only takes twenty minutes from Fiscardo.

The breath taking Myrtos beach is highly recommended and worth visiting. It is one of the most photogenic beaches in the whole of Greece and world famous for its turquoise water and bright white smooth marble pebbles from which its formed. Myrtos beach can be found only 20km away.

 Fiscardo - simply paradise !
