A few Kilometors north of the stunning Myrtos beach nesstles the tiny and hidden village of Assos, which is thought to be one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages of Kefalonia. Built like an amphitheater around the hidden cove, it is embrased by luscious green scenery and verdurous forestry. Pine and cypress trees along with the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea, creating the unique combination that makes Assos the perfect location for a relaxing vacations.

The village will appear to be ‘lost in time’ inspiring a sense of spiritual mystery giving off a mystical atmosphere. The traditional Ionian architecture is retained, while the modern new looks are gentle and slight, yet enough to endeer all visitors. Beautifuly coloured houses tucked into the rocky hillside, scatter the scenery with colours beyond the strong blues and greens.  In the micro harbour you can enjoy the sight of fishing boats and some luxury yachts moored up. In the small village square you will find several tavernas and restaurants ask us for recommendations as we have tried them all. Assos beach is a beautiful shady, pebbly beach offering crystal clear waters with wonderful views across the sheltered cove.

It was in the late 15th century, that a castle was built by the Venetian army. It was built in order to protect the inhabitants from unwanted frequent pirate raids. The stronghold was of great strategic importance which made Assos a capital city of the northern side of the island. Nowadays, there are only remnants of the wall and other parts of Assos castle, as well as the small church of San Marco.
